From a Motorcycle's POV

You may have started to notice the number of GoPros perched above many motorcyclist's helmets. We're filming and photographing our lives now more than ever and motorcyclists are no exception. Action-ready cameras like the GoPro enable an easy way to film your rides and the reasons to do this are plenty.

The first one is safety. Motorcyclists face a unique danger on the road, not having the same protective shelter, we say cage, that a car does. A collision involving a car and a motorcycle will likely be far worse for the biker than for the one in the car. It's situations like this that make it smart to have an actual visual record of the time you spend on the road. That way you can prove who is at fault in case of an accident.

But safety isn't the only reason why you would want to film your rides. There are tons of YouTube channels with motorcyclists who set up their GoPros and ride risky and exciting paths. Some of these paths can be winding mountain roads or metropolitan freeways, often at breakneck speeds. While some may consider this driving to be reckless or illegal, sharing this footage shows the world a thrilling lifestyle that most people don't lead. They even show their rides from different angles sometimes mounting the camera to the helmet, other times to the bike itself.

If you have spent any time watching the GoPro footage that bikers are posting, you'll see that there are many out there who are taking the plunge to seek new avenues in expressing how awesome riding motorcycles can be. Next time you see someone with a little square box protruding for their helmet, think about where this will possibly take motorcycles and the people who ride them into the future.
